Portable Appliance Test (PAT)

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the term used to describe the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. Stationary and IT equipment being used by the public should be PAT tested every 12 months. Portable and handheld equipment which falls under Class II should be tested every 6 months, and Class I equipment should be tested every 6 months.
